Watercolor and Oil Painter A Cape Cod native, Sandy was born in Hyannis, Massachusetts, and was raised in the Town of Yarmouth. She was interested in art as a young child. In High School, Sandy won the Maxton-Graham portfolio scholarship award for outstanding art work and was awarded a membership in the Cape Cod Art Association. During this period, she also received first place in print making and one of her prints was featured in “Jeep Magazine.” Sandy attended the University of Southeastern Massachusetts, where she studied fine arts and art education. Since graduation, Sandy has taught art in all grades from kindergarten through high school. She taught art at the M.E. Small Elementary School, in Yarmouth for 20 years and is currently teaching at Station Avenue Elementary School. Sandy is currently an Artist member of the Cape Cod Art Association. She has studied with Sam Barber and Arnold Desmarais in oil painting. Sandy continues to paint with oils as well as watercolors. Her Maritime style comes from her love of the ocean and appreciation of sailing. The whole family sails and competes at the Hyannis Yacht Club.
